Products and services can be bought in another member state when required, but obtaining healthcare outside their country of residence still presents a problem to most European citizens. This was the starting point for a recent workshop which was part of the “eHealth 2008” conference in Kiel, Germany, organized by the European Commission’s TEN4Health project. The workshop focused on current e-Health solutions of cross-border healthcare from a variety of European countries....

Wen, 30 Jan 2008 10:17:29 GMT.After having successfully won the call for tender on the study for the first phase (Pilot on eHealth Indicators), a study including a survey of more than 6000 General Practitioners in all European countries which will be completed by empirica in March 2008, also the second study in a series of three linked studies to develop eHealth benchmarking at European level was awarded to empirica. The study will cover all 27 EU Member States plus Norway and Iceland as well as Canada and the USA.

The project was officially launched at Tunstall's world headquarters in Whitley Bridge, Yorkshire on the 1st February 2007, and was attended by 40 delegates from the UK and European partner organisations. The SOPRANO project resulted from a successful proposal submission to the European Commission’s IST Programme which is part of the Framework Programme 6. It includes partners from three SEN@ER regions cooperating in the development of independent living services.

At the World of Health IT conference in Geneva, 10 - 13 October 2006, empirica consultant Stefan Lilischkis presented findings from the e-Business W@tch 2006 hospital survey. One of the most interesting results is that hospitals, in comparison with other economic sectors, are relatively strong in online procurement but they are relatively weak in patient-facing information technology solutions.
